Canadian Socks: The Best Brands to Shop This Fall and Winter

Canadian Socks: The Best Brands to Shop This Fall and Winter

Canada makes some very good socks, and almost nobody buys good socks for themselves. That’s what makes them one of the best gifts of the season. Whether you’re pulling out the wool for the first cold mornings of fall or filling stockings in December, these are the Canadian sock companies worth knowing, with a few favourite pairs from each. We’ve noted which brands knit their socks here at home and which design in Canada and manufacture elsewhere, so you can shop the way that matters most to you.

Bondoodle

Bondoodle is a small, women-owned brand from Victoria that makes socks and beanies for wandering. Founder Pippa Dawson spent years designing products for global labels before moving from Britain to Canada, and that move inspired the brand’s focus on soft, considered basics for exploring somewhere new. Q for Quinn

Q for Quinn began with one sock problem. Founder Melita Cyril couldn’t find socks gentle enough for her son’s eczema, so in 2018 she started making her own. The brand now makes GOTS-certified organic cotton and merino wool socks for the whole family, designed in Canada and knitted at a family-owned facility in Portugal. Every pair also gives back: since 2019, Q for Quinn has donated more than 500,000 school meals to children in need through Mary’s Meals.

OKAYOK

OKAYOK makes bold, playful socks that make getting dressed more fun. The Canadian brand has produced all of its pieces in Canada since it launched in 2017, so a pair is an easy way to shop local. Read our full OKAYOK profile.

Sock BOOM

Sock Boom! makes nothing but socks, and they’re meant to be seen. The Toronto brand was launched in 2025 by Cindy Zhao. It’s known for bright, confident patterns that make socks the most interesting part of an outfit, while still being comfortable enough to wear all day. Read our full Sock Boom! profile.

La Canadienne

Good socks deserve good boots. La Canadienne has been making polished leather footwear in Montréal since 1987, and its City Dry styles are waterproof right out of the box. That means you can go from slush to the office without a soggy sock in sight. Read our full La Canadienne profile.

Province of Canada

Province of Canada makes everything in Canada, socks included. Husband-and-wife founders Julie Brown and Jeremy Watt launched the Toronto brand in 2014. They work with Canadian factories they visit every month, use natural fibres like cotton and wool, and run a sock donation program, so your purchase also helps someone who needs warm feet.
