About the brand

Poppy & Peonies makes practical handbags and accessories built for the realities of modern life. Founder Natalie Dusome, a Métis designer and mother, launched the brand after her pre-baby bags couldn’t keep up with her post-baby life. The line is cruelty-free, vegan, and PETA-approved, engineered with the kind of pockets, organization, and thoughtful details that make a bag work as hard as the person carrying it.

The brand is guided by the Indigenous Seventh Generation Principle, a teaching that decisions made today should consider their impact seven generations ahead. That philosophy extends to high-quality vegan leather construction, plastic-free shipping, and recycled and biodegradable packaging materials. Giving back is a core pillar: over the past year, Poppy & Peonies has raised more than $35,000 for the Indian Residential School Survivors Society and continues to support Indigenous and non-Indigenous women’s shelters across Canada, including Mamas for Mamas.
