Karat Chocolate
Award-winning, handcrafted chocolates and pastries are what have turned Karat Chocolate into a must-visit destination for fine chocolate lovers.
About the brand
Pastry chef and chocolatier Julian Helman started KARAT Chocolates in the basement kitchen of Mission Hill Winery with a few bags of Valrhona chocolate and a handful of tools. The Kelowna-based boutique has since grown into one of the Okanagan Valley’s most recognized names for fine chocolate and pastry, with a shop at 1526 Ellis Street and a loyal community that’s helped put Kelowna on the map for dessert lovers.
A second-generation pastry chef trained at the Culinary Institute of Canada, the French Pastry School in Chicago, and l’École Valrhona in France, Helman brings a French culinary philosophy to every piece: good food starts with good ingredients. KARAT has earned more than 60 international chocolate awards and continues to serve as a creative platform for young chefs and chocolatiers.
