About the brand
Om Organics was founded by esthetician Kari Asselin, whose experience working in the skincare industry led her to develop her own products after struggling to find formulas that worked for her sensitive, reactive and acne-prone skin. After moving from Ontario to Invermere in 2011, Asselin began experimenting with her own chemical-free, minimally processed skincare formulations. In the beginning, she shared them with family and friends, and sold at local farmers’ markets. By 2016, the business had grown enough to become her full-time venture, with its first storefront opening in Invermere.
Today, Om Organics produces its botanical skincare in small batches at the Invermere apothecary. The collection includes facial cleansers, toners, serums, moisturizers, masks and body care, with formulas made without synthetic colours or fragrances, parabens, sulfates or fillers. The brand is cruelty-free, vegan and gluten-free, and its products are certified by CertClean, a North American certification standard for toxin-free skincare. Alongside its online store and wholesale partnerships, Om has expanded its retail presence with a second location in Calgary. Asselin has also made affordability part of the business, aiming to keep its plant-based formulations accessible without the premium price tag often associated with natural skincare.
